WeThrive is an entrepreneurial mentoring program that pairs college students with middle school and high school students living in low-income settings. Youth participants create their very own ventures, earning real revenues for their products and services throughout an action-based after-school program. All profits are donated to charities of the participants’ choice.
College student mentors are trained and supported to lead their youth participants through ideation and venture creation. Most importantly, throughout this action-based curriculum, youth participants learn life skills by way of habit adoption, and gain a near-peer mentor and role model. An individual who is close enough in age to relate to and old enough that they can go to them for problem-solving and other questions.
Students also learn to form and maintain positive support systems through creating a company together and learning productive accountability habits. Overall, youth participants learn life skills, adopt habits, and gain a mentor and role model to equip them to navigate their own pathways of opportunity and achieve success whether that means becoming a doctor, lawyer, entrepreneur or otherwise.
